    ..........with Alison O Riordan
I never thought I would choose to leave my beloved country because of economic factors. Nor return to education at the age of 30 in a foreign land. Nor look to better myself in the hands of an education system other than the Irish one.

It seems our beloved is leaving the Emerald Isle to go in to education in the US. And she is worried what she is leaving behind:
Who would pay my mortgage on my Irish home when I was overseas?

    Who indeed.

    More therapeutic reading here:

Is there anyway we can lock the country?

Shes studying a graduate degree in journalism. If she can't understand that people like different stories instead of her repeated tale of woe there is no hope for her

I saw that article a few days ago. I was never really on the "Alison is **** bandwagon" but it really is the most facetious pile of crap I have ever read.

Lucky for her that she can go and study somewhere else. What about those of us that are working and living abroad and genuinely worry that it'll be years before they can come home. She hasn't a clue.

In fairness to her she managed to write the same story for a year at least and sell it. It says alot about Irish editorial standards that her journalism makes it to print. She seems to have made a niche as one of those columnists you love to hate.

Nice, Im with you there. She's one of the moaning twats that fell for every trick in the book. Good old builders who have f all education copped on that the Irish will pay loads for their home so they work out what a house costs to build and double that price. Its damn hard work after all and working outdoors in the winter sucks in a big way. Things are good for a while till rotten little foreigners comes along and starts under pricing Mick and Paddy. With the lower price comes lower quality so the houses and flats going up are kind of crap when compared to houses 10 years earlier. 10 years earlier you never saw a block layer driving a 4 wheel drive either.
Now not all us Micks and Paddys are as daft as this wee girl. Mister bank man is a tad clever too, more so than our builders. Mister bank man knows everyone in Ireland wants their own home. He also knows they cant afford it but he talks nicely to them and they sign on the dotted line. Sure when they cant pay it back he’ll have the keys of them and sell it on, by that time he will have made enough from twat number one to be able to offer it to twat number two at its real value.
Then mister government says, wait a minute we are giving out loads of grant money to the building trade and its getting sent out of the country. No more money to the builders. Things are not looking to good for the retirement plan. What to do, what to do, what to do? Wait a minute, I got it, lets have some easy money of the EU like we did years ago and we can get silly little Irish girls and boys to pay for it.
Now this twat who took out a big loan for an apartment she couldn’t afford is off to the us of a and dumping us with her debt, nice one. It’s the moaners that think they know it all that have this country in ruins because they are so stupid. Add the Irish attitude of loving to screw everything that moves and here we are:)

    Clears throat....

I'm sorry to have to close this thread but every thread we've had here in After Hours about Ms O'Riordain has resulted in a fair amount of abuse hurled in her direction. Boards HQ was contacted by someone connected to Ms O'Riordain the last time we had a thread and we were asked to close the it. Its a pity that its come down to this but thats just the way it is.
