1998 Corolla liftback. Can anyone tell me, how is the towbar fitted? Is it welded or bolted?
Just wondering if I could pick one up cheap at a scrap or breakers yard.

strange co incidence. yesterday i bought a new socket set to try and remove the tow bar (swan neck) from my 98 corolla, which seemed to be bolted on, but no go, so there must be some kind of welding

Any jap stuff I've seen are nearly always bolted through the chassis rails

Here are the Bosal mounting instructions for the 3 and 5 dr hatchbacks Corolla Hatchbacks. From these you should be able to gauge were the mounts should go. I suppose if you are getting one from the scrapyard that you be careful what car it comes off (the saloon is also different as well)

Nearly all towbar's are bolted in.
