This might be a daft question but is it possible to connect this between water mains & electric shower to increase the pressure in the shower?

Will also be handy for pumping water up to the attic tank,if we get another frozen winter like last winter.

Great idea for the old ball cock and lever flush system but I have just changed 2 ball valves in a neighbours house because he pumped water up to the attic from one neighbour to another and it disturbed the sediment in the bottom of the tank. This would not be a problem with the old lever flush however with the new top flush the sediment can get caught in the inlet valve and you get a constant internal overflow of water into the cistern. Not a big worry if you dont mind wasteing water but the constantant noise of tha attic tank filling was doing his misses head in. He orig asked me to come in and change the ball valve In the attic.

Oh the innocence.... No wonder plumbers rip you off.;)

Just to give you the whole information. Legallly unless the law has changed. the highest you can increase your mains pressure to is 1/2 horse power with a mains booster pump(it might be 3/4" oh my head on a saturday) anyway....This is not really your problem

Your problem is you have a mains fed shower and the mains is insufficent to open it. This is not the solution to your problem. Also i may be wrong but the last time i looked its illegal to put a booster pump on the mains and then directly onto a shower. It must go into a holding tank first.

Your solution is to buy a single impeller booster pump or whats commonly know in triton circles a T450I booster pump. This is connected to the attic tank and then to your shower so you are doing away with the mains connection.

obtw....i use to work in a car breakers yard.... You know the tric where you suck on the tube to extract petrol form the tank...You know you just keep it low.... Well i thought this to my brother(who may of used it for illegal purposes) but he does this every couple of weeks with his fish tank. That way he can clean the tank at night with no fear of wakeing the kids and use his money to buy beer to mask the taste....

Just thought i would share that...For my money I could not be arsed with a fish tank but the pump looks shiny...

If I ever do need it in am emergencey for pumping water to the attic, then its very easy to open and drain the pump and clean it out.At least I can still use and flush toilets

    Simples.:)

    Hi Paddy / Others,

I bought the same pump (its back in lidl again this week) with the intention of using it to pump rainwater from a 4000L tank into my outside taps. I can use the rainwater then for all outside uses. Does the pump turn off if I turn off the tap (i.e. does it have its own pressure switch). My house is also on a pressurized system and the pump (grundfos - expensive) cuts in and out whenever you turn on a tap. I havent fully set up the storage tank so I cant test the pump yet - and would prefer to be able to take it back to the shop unused if its no good to me!

The siphon tube needs to be full so to avoid sucking I would immerse the tube in the tank. When full I would hold my finger on each end of the tube, put one end into the takn and the other into a recipient and let go the end in the tank first and then the other! No bad taste from that...

Get a suitable length of plastic tubing of about garden hose size, preferably clear. Immerse it in the fish tank water until it completely fills with water, then close one end with your thumb and lower it to below the bottom of the tank, remove thumb and watch the water flow. If you don't want to empty the tank just place the end of the tube at the level required. The flow will stop when the water reaches that level.
All very low tech and simple.
