Hi my breaks are not the best on my new car at the moment :( so i went and got new brake pads but when i had a look at the pads they had hardly any wear on them at all. I was then thinking it might be just air in the line and that they needed to be bled but the brake peadle is hard any time ive bled my breaks the pedal was soft so i knew there was air in them and then the pedal would be hard when i was finished bleeding them.

Could it still be air in the line even if the pedal is hard ?

Misleading title, I though is was going to be something like you were always dropping your kit-kats

Is it a brand new car?

Maybe pads and the disks just need a chance to bed in.

If it's not, it's also possible that the brake booster has failed.

once went on a weekend away to athlone...didnt like that break.

anyway that's neither here nor there. Is there any fluid under the car,you could have a leak?? I take it no or you would have said. You might need to top up brake fluid maybe?

No the car is not brand new just new to me there is no leaks under the car and the breake fluid is full.

Failing booster would leave a hard pedal with weak brakes (IIRC), but wouldn't leave any visible sign of problems beyond this. The only thing leaking is air.

A "bad break" is where you get two punctures simultaneously.

Bad brakes are a different matter. Please correct the title?

Would the grammar police ever give it a rest.

Thread title changed. If you have a problem in future report it.

    +1

There is an issue with the brake booster. Take it to a garage ... if your lucky it could be a quick fix.

If the brake servo had failed you would have a solid pedal buy VERY little actual stopping power. If the brakes still work to a reasonable degree then you should be checking rear cylinders for leaks(if you have drum brakes on the rear) and also check the condition of the disks/drums as if they are worn below the minimum thickness then braking strength will be reduced.

If your not well up on what your looking for you should get it checked properly as soon as you can.
