    It depends on what your website is about.
    There are a few general purpose directories such as hotfrog and DMOZ,
    but you should find specific directories in your niche. e.g. look up tourism directories if you have a b&b.
    You should also look at local directories. Put name of your county + directory into google and you will find a few.
    I also try to get links from enterprise boards in the area.
