Getting rid of old car

I have a 95 golf I no longer need. It runs fine and is NCTed until May. It is currently neither taxed nor insured.
Would this even be worth trying to sell? Or can anyone suggest a legal way to get rid of it without costing me anything?

If there is nothing wrong with it, you should be able to sell it. Put an ad up and you be surprised how many 'collectors' will jump at it.

Just advertise the car for breaking. I did this a few years back with an old Astra and I had guys biting my hand off to take the car. I gave to one guy, he came along with the transporter, took it away (as it wasn't taxed etc) and I received the Certificate of Destruction in the post a few days later.

Will the fact they won't legally be able to test-drive it (due to it not being insured + taxed) affect this at all?

To expand on this, if I do give it away to someone, what should I be asking them for (documentation wise) to ensure that it is their problem if it turns up on the side of a road?

I.D. is not a problem, transfer document should be signed and posted off by you, thus showing the transfer date etc. That's your end covered. Have PM'ed you,

If the car is running fine then you should have no problem selling it for a few hundred quid. In these challenging times cheap cars are selling well.

    Either Done Deal (€3)

    or Adverts.ie (free)

Stick it up with a few pics and say all offers welcome and will be considered. Simple.

Why scrap a car that is running fine? Also a scrap yard will hardly give him more money for it than if he sold it on privately.
