Hi all just a quick question for a report I am writing. I need about 4 or 5 Irish export companies, I looked around and only got 2 or 3. Any one know who the main ones are? Oh and what they export. Thanks

I assume you mean companies which are Irish owned and originated in Ireland as opposed to foreign companies with operations here.

    AIBP exports beef,
    Kingspan exports building materials,

can't think of any others at the moment.

From an agri point of view you have the hugely successful plc's

    Glanbia PLC
    Kerry PLC

Then you have smaller companies like McHale engineering in Mayo who are agri machinery manufacturers, they are highly successful and are producing worldclass products, exporting as far away as OZ and NZ

Dawn Meats in Waterford are a large exporter of Irish beef. I think they provide McDonalds and Subway with most of their beef in Europe.

    Kepak,

as with above posts you will find that outside the agri-food industry we are not good at making things in this country and selling them, the exception seems to be Glen Dimplex, although it could be argued that financial software solutions created here and sold abroad are an indigenous export industry, take a look at Realix Payment Solutions for this one.

How large do they have to be?

Started with a plant in Offaly and grew to a multinational. Doing pretty well for themselves. Like many such companies, it's privately held so it doesn't get publicity every time the stock market sneezes.

    You've included Élan?

I can name a few contract manufacturers that are still manufacturing household name branded products in Ireland for others.

CRH I would imagine though that may be more a case of them being a global player rather than exporting indigenous products.

There are many more than just the big names. I work for a small Irish company with less than 25 employees but we are still an export enterprise.
