    Depends on what you're into;
    Racing.
    Sportifs.
    Time Trials.
Shop ........for a pint of milk.
    Touring.
    Commuting.
Cycling to the pub on a wreck, with a cable lock?

You really should build a big extension on the back of the house and collect bikes like we all do.
Don't mind what the missus says'.

Maybe some of these brands should be up there:

    Colnago
    Pinarello
    BMC
    DeRosa
    Cervelo

Have been riding a Giant myself for the last few yrs and I like it.

Flash her the lycra and she'll soon forgive you ;)

Not really into all the flash carbon racing bikes, but like classic Italian and European bikes (not that I'm a connoisseur).

Colnago (had one a few years ago)
Alan Shorter (first frame I bought and my first and only build)
    Carlton
    Chas Roberts
    Bianchi

Will more than likely be adding Cinelli to that as I have just started another build, over 30 years since my last one.

I got my missus a cute little Trek Mtb just after Christmas. Now I've created a monster,15km commute every day and hitting the trails at the weekend. I have to get the finger out just to keep up with her.

None of the major companies do it for me, they are mostly churned out of big factories and branded. I keep seeing the same frame on 3 or 4 different brands lately. There are however a few companies who's bicycles I'd like to own.

    - Perhaps a british bike, Mercian, Dolan, Bob Jackson etc. Love that old skool vibe.
    - Cannondale - The Apple Mac of bicycles. Gotta admire the Lefty!
    - Colnago - One with the Clubs Logo on the BB tube! Sexy Italian exotica.
    - Concorde - I miss my PDM team bike.
    - Canyon - They seem to go down well in these here parts!

OK I may have been extracting the urine. My real list.

    1: Kona
    2: Mercian
    3: Pinarello

I don't really know after that. I have two Kona's that I love. I've never ridden a Mercian or Pinarello but someday I shall!

    1) Cannondale
    2) Pace
    3) Bontrager
    4) Marin
    5) Kona

Personally think some of the current offerings from some of Italian brands are way overrated, Colango, Pinarello come to mind.

    anyway..

    1) Baum
    2) Merlin (no longer made).
    3) Storck
    4) pegoretti
    5) Independent Fabrication

Raparee (might not be spelling that right) used to. Very nice bikes from what I heard.

While maybe not the best if I had to compile a Christmas wish list it's look something like this.

    1. Confente
    2. De Rosa
    3. Colnago
    4. Cinelli
    5. Masi

In other words old Italian steel. But my dream bike is this...

    dscn1088.jpg

... An original Eddy Merckx bike in Molteni orange.
