Toll tag beeping...or not.

Hi, Anyone using an eflow toll tag? Mine never ever beeps when its in the holder, definitely fitted in the correct spot. It only beeps if i take it slightly out of the holder, as if the plastic holder is blocking it.
Anyway, I'm just wondering if a non beeping tag will let me through other barriers or will I get stuck down on M4 and M7.
Thinking of sending it back and going video only, and paying cash elsewhere. I just dont see the point of paying a euro a month for a tag that doesnt work. Rang them a few times and they said 'oh it is reading it occasionally'.....yeah, when I hold it in my hand!!!

On the m50 it doesn't matter if it doesn't register, as they cross-reference your reg against tag holders list first before sending a payment notice. On other tolls you probably would have problems if the tag is faulty

    M7/8 toll booth it beeps.

Bear in mind though on the M8 at Fermoy it never beeps and the barrier is lethargic.

M8 and M6 do not beep at all, ever. M8 barrier as said is, eh, "special" and decides what to do of its own accord. M6 isn't.

Seems to be inconsistent for me. Sometimes it doesnt beep on the M50 and the N18 Limerick Tunnel and others it never beeps.

only really use mine on the M50 & M3 and it always beeps, although i went through the one on the M1 before the bridge and it double beeped and the screen at the road flashed up not recognised, altho the barrier stayed up from the guy in front of me and i'd gone through it before i realised it hadn't worked so its a good job it didn't come down on me, but it was te first time i've ever had a problem and i'd just gotten used to it working all the time.

i pay a lot more attention now anyway after that scare and i'm always wary that i could have a problem and need to stop or move to the other lane if it doesn't register any time i go through.

not sure if it ended up charging me or not in the end as i have a big bill anyway and couldn't be arsed going through it.

has anyone else had any issues with the M1 toll with a tag?

I use all the tolls monthly and some beep and some not. I have had some problems with the express lanes and that is because some barriers won't lift if you are exceeding 50kph on approach.

lol, not much of an express lane then. :pac:

that might be it tho, i used to go through them fairly quick just to see how fast you *could* go and you can do the M3 ones more or less as quick as you dare and they still work fine altho i've worked my way up and definitely reached my own limit testing it now, especially after that time i got a scare when the M1 one didn't scan my tag.

you won't get stuck on the M4 - my eflow tag occasionally does not bleep in the express lane. Just make sure you're doing 50km/h on the approach and you'll be fine. If your peripheral vision is up to it you'll spot the LED display with the price, this flashes when its read.

If all this fails head over to the main toll plaza - they have never failed to read it (m4 & m6).

My tag is quite old at this stage (2007?) it beeps on every toll I go to including M50 (not that often). I do remember back in early days that there was some trouble on some specific tolls. I remember the express lane not working on the M1 for example other then that it's been grand.

eFlow tags don't beep on the M6 at all.

My EasyTrip tag always beeps on the M6, M4 and M50. Haven't been through any other tolls since I got the tag.

Side note: I'm still always shocked at how bad the M4 express lanes are whenever I use it. Even crawling at 50kmh you are left wondering until the very last second whether the barrier will actually lift or not. You're pretty much at the 'point of no return' before the barrier starts lifting. In contrast, you can drive through the M6 express lanes at 80kmh - the barrier lifts off like a rocket the instant your tag beeps. Even though you are travelling at 80 kmh, you still have loads of time to react if the barrier fails to lift.

Mine NEVER beeps. That being said, it's a very old tag. I got it around the time when toll tags came out. It's pretty big but I've never got a bill. I assume it works so. Should I apply for a new one?

Thanks for the helpful replies everyone.....today...it.....beeped!!!! On the way back over m50. Nearly swerved with the shock :D first beep since Jan while in the holder. It beeped in feb when I waved it about in my hand. (I will be easily spotted driving on m50...nutter with plastic crap waving furiously!)
I dunno, I might take a spin down the m4 and see does it let me through before I hand it back. Don't understand why it would beep sometimes & not others but anyways! We'll see!

Mine (easytrip 2010 tag) beeps on all M3, M50, M7/8 but as you have stated not on M8 Fermoy although the barrier does lift.

Hopefully soon test it on M1 tolls - what an exciting life I have !
