was driving the backroads of the airport at 11.40am yesterday when a ryanair flight was comming in to land, nothing unusual there....

but then all of a sudden it powered up and went back up into the air!
    any reason for this?

didnt touch the fround obviously, and if i was to take a guess at what height - 200-300m

Ryanair noted for thier very quick turnaround time, remember time costs money :):):):):):)

It happens pretty regularly. Given that it hasn't been too windy lately, I would say it was probably another aircraft that hadn't cleared the runway.

I saw an A330 do the same on Sunday. I was on the M1 at the time so have no idea why or what airline it was. It wasn't EI.

I think you will find that it was a Luftansa A320 D-AISW that had the missed approach at that time.
I was sitting at the side of 27 when it happened

From casper there was an IE ahead of the DLH landing right up the behind of a FR leaving.

I'd only call it a failed landing when it was a go-around that *didn't* happen. In my most humblest of opinions like.

The title of this thread is completely misleading as it is clear that the airline involved was not Ryanair.

Nevertheless, I'm sure they'll be delighted to get the credit for a display of good airmanship.
Every approach is planned to end in a go-around. A landing is merely a failed go-around.

Go arounds are no big deal, go arounds are usually safer than continuing the landing. We have an example in the Cork crash where someone failed to go around. That was a failed landing in every sense of the word. Also an example of why going around is always the best option when there is a doubt about the landing.

No debate to be had ;)
In the professional world, a g/a is a good thing and is not a failed anything. End of debate.
