Your Meter probably needs to be Caliarated. Did your meter come with a Data Transfer cable.

Yeah it did but was looking for it today and can't find the bloody thing,
Is there much to it? I'd say i can get my hands on one

The cable you need is a usb A to usb B cable, that's all.
You can calibrate it from the meter if you still have the instructions or update it from the Meter Support website, with the latest transponder updates.
Here are the instructions, transfer software and latest dataset
the website appears to be down atm.
    Good luck

Try this website, it has all the info you need to update and calibrate your meter and all the software you will need.
    I thought it had disappeared.

given that the manufacturer went bust, I don't suppose there is any other corner of the internet where updates can be downloaded?

If you have the editing software from Lacuna Satmeter (3.02) then maybe but I'm not sure it would work on this meter

    For Saorsat:
    Display Name Saorsat
    LNB LO 9750
    22Khz OFF
    Frequency 10.765
    Reference frequency Auto
    Voltage 14Volts (vertical)(LHCP)
    Symbol Rate 24995
    FEC 1/2

You do not use the 20Ghz frequency unless your meter supports it. You also need a special LNB.
    as per:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saorsat

I assume this meter is DVB-S2 capable and if it has a screen it can show MPEG4.

No,this meter is not DVB-S2 capable, but it may at least register a signal strength readout, but not quality as it won't lock a DVB-S2 transponder, so not much use for most HD or Saorsat.

any good meters so out their cheapish?

    Not if you want DVB-S2.

Instead of locking on to the DVB-S2 Saorsat 20Ghz signal you can get the dish up with an ordinary LNB with the normal TV stations at 9E. Then swap the LNB afterwards and peak using the signal strength on a DVB-S2 receiver.

Not ideal but would get you over a hump. For hobbiest use I just use a DVB-S2 receiver, a beeper meter and a tiny TV. I mount everything right beside the dish. Not ideal if it is raining.

    Hi.

The application where you can update all satellites is called SatLoader.
If you still have a problem with that, I send edited list with Hotbird via e-mail.
