Oh dear god no... one more tax and I'll have to give up the job and sign on.

I'm sure plenty of those currently signing on would be delighted to take your place.

    A necessary measure.
They should cut 2bn off the social protection budget and then another 2bn in the 2012 budget.

That translates to 18 euro off the dole in June and another 18 euro in December.

I'm sure any single person would be delighted with my salary The Muppet. When you've a family to support and the welfare "entitlements" available to your family outweigh your net salary due to discrimination in the tax system, you don't have much choice though.

ahh sure i few more percent tax wont matter to those loaded from working. They should replace 40% of dole with food vouchers and the same for the middle classes, maybe go the whole hog with clothing vouchers etc. etc.

Actually come to think of it communism would probably work out better here in the long term :)

Ignoring idiots who comment "far right" because they don't even know what it means

The current bill is 22bn, we can afford 13bn (60%). What I suggested only takes it down to 18bn.
Any more 'protecting the vulnerable' by cutting wages/ taxing those who are working instead of cutting social welfare means that packing in your job will earn you more money than working.

    +1

Seriously you cannot take anymore of the workers unless you cut social welfare payments first.

There is already a situation where for some part of the workforce it simply doesn't make sense to work because they are better off on welfare. Or at least the gap that's left isn't worth the difference between putting in a 40 hour week and doing nothing.
The last budget has made this situation even worse and if we add to it we'll have half the country on welfare next. It kind of feels like thats the case already anyway
Not being cynical here just rational. I know what I'd do if I was left with the choice of 200€ per week (plus whatever else I might qualify for) and do nothing or else work 40 hours for 300€ something.

The last cut was meant to be 4%, I was getting €106.90 per week, I was cut €13.30 per week which equates to 12.45% cut, I must say I'm having the life of Reilly on €93.60 a week..

Feel free to jump on board fcuk the job..

maybe they will increase the higher rate of PAYE, I can already earn a spectacular E32,000 before paying over 50c in the euro on PAYE and USC! The whole tax system here on income is so dysfunctional!

the problem with this country is that it has been dysfunctional , we are creeping towards normality, unfortunately we will end up a high tax, no services economy

Labour is in power, there will be little or no cuts in the social welfare budget or public spending. I expect private sector middle class people on above 30k will be crucified by taxes in the budgets to come, and they will have little or no government services to show for it.

the growth figures here are worse than expected, banks need more recapitalization than expected, I can only hope that we hit the point where the IMF dictate sooner rather than later that we stop messing around. The lender of last resort is already here. Cuts would be so much less damaging than taxes, especially those on workers!
