All I can think of it RPAR which is rate per available room and to have a basic understanding of the special tax status previously afforded to hotel developments.

There's a hotel room price index here http://www.hotels.com/press/hotel-price-index.html which might give some industry background.

Hi - What type role are you going for? Asst accountant, accountant, FC?

Hotel's are very much a cash business, also, they are very much concerned with cashflow now more than ever. Also, keeping control of stock i.e. bar supplies are important.

I would advise you to (depending on your role) to look at some job specs and this will give you an idea what is expected of you.

    Good luck

Sorry probably to late to be helpful but there is a very useful UK association for hospitality accountants - http://www.baha-uk.org/

    They run regular courses etc.

There is also a good book (but fairly pricey) - might be worth investing in if you get the job and are running the show!

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1844801977/ref=oss_product

    Hope it went well anyway!
