Went to an orthodondist today - to get the brace with ceramic on top and metal on bottom it's €4000 with €200 discount If I pay up front. I had planned on going to Enniskillen but the consultation fee there in euros ranges from 80-150 with braces ranging from 3200 - 3900 in euros also. Enniskillen is a 2 hour drive for me where as this guy is 30 minutes away. Any advice/suggestions?!

Sound like the local guy is an obvious choice. Price sounds pretty good too.

I'm going to Newry to get six month smiles top and bottom for £2200 plus free whitening afterwards. It's about an hour drive from me in meath.

My teeth are really overcrowded and originally wanted the inman aligner as it was cheaper. I asked about the payment and he said I could pay as much as I wanted off each time I went up.

So 10 visits and a two hour drive each time = 40 euro petrol = 400 euro + 2500 euro fees = nearly 3k for 6 month ortho, you could get a full 3 year ortho in Dublin 4 for that. And all this on job seekers allowance....nice

Em? Why are you getting annoyed at this? It's none of your business how my dental treatment is going to be paid I haven't even recieved job seekers and do not yet know if I even will get it. 9 months and a one hour drive for me.

I am not annoyed just wondering why you posted this twice on two posts (one on a 2 month old thread) in the last 6 minutes. 10 visits, once already, 9 one a month and possibly more for the bleach. Also because you decided to share your bargain in the North despite the fact you can get it cheaper in the south. I am sick of people spouting about northern bargains when they are anything but. My shill radar is on full alert here.

You need to relax. I joined this board to get and give advice. I didn't expect a moderator to stalk everything I post and make comments about me getting social welfare? It's actually unbelievable? Why don't you show me somewhere I can get the same treatment at the same cost it would save me the drive to Newry.

Cause its the moderators jobs to monitor the posts and ensure the advice is not spam, shills (low post count users like you who post the same thing on several threads and dig up old threads are usually clinics trying to generate interest). I also find it totally out of order that you post about delays getting JSA on one thread and then recommend people spend their money in another country...do you not see any issue or hypocrisy with that. If its not my business dont post it on a public forum.

Why do you just assume I am paying for this?My parents are. I have applied for the jobseekers allowance I was asking a question not complaining. It's a free country people can spend their money where they want. Why should my parents spend their earned money on an extra 2000 euro on braces when we can drive an hour up to Newry and get them for half the price. There's a reason why 70% of their customers are people travelling from the south. You have no right to go nuts at me or anyone for spending their money in another country.

Its not double the price for god sake, you CAN GET IT CHEAPER IN THE SOUTH, why do people insist on going up North to spend more money. There was a time when this may have been true but those days are long gone. You could have gone to Clane, Kilkenny, Dublin South, Dublin North, Dublin city center, Ashbourne or dunshulauchan for cheaper treatment by non orthodontists. Why compare the fee for a proper course of proper orthodontics with an orthodontist with those of a general dentist? The treatment outcome will not be the same.

Oh and the reason your parents should spend their money in the South is because they earned it in the south it will put money into the irish economy and help create jobs and pay social welfare.

The reason 70% of their patient are from the south is Northerners cant afford their prices.

Your teeth are really overcrowded and you trust a guy who did an ortho course for a day! Then you think because after you've paid £2,200 you're getting a great deal by being given a "free" cartridge of bleach (30€). At his rates, I should be charging at least £8,800 for a 2 year treatment. I'd give you a case of Dom Perignon. I charge a third of that.
