Hey guys, I was playing football last night and got a bang on my two front teeth, It pushed both my teeth back about a quarter of an inch. Anyway went to the dentist and she straightened and set them. i was told they'll probably go black and will need 'root treatment' as well as a crown! Does anyone know what this involves and what is it likely to cost?

Doesn't sound too good! I'd guess several hundred at least... but I'm not a dentist so hopefully I'm wrong. If not, and you have health insurance, it's worth checking if you have some dental cover included.

Well I was thinking that just by reading the other thread about crowns.
The club is footing the bill anyway!

Maybe a custom made mouthguard should have been worn.

a bang like that will have killed the nerve in the tooth, so you will need root canal treatment. you may get away without needing crowns though, depending on how much natural tooth is taken away during the root filling, how dark the tooth goes after treatment, and possibility of internal bleaching.

If you were playing Club football you may be covered for insurance? Check out the costs from various dentist. My dentist has a price list in his reception area. I am just back from the dentist and having root canal treatment done, which my dentist does over numerous visits!

    Good luck.

sorry not hijacking this thread, but whats the above all about?
i am getting root canal on sat. and a crown 6mts later, to be honest
i have never really thought about what it involves. how much tooth is taken away durning the root filling and what is internal bleaching. the dentist hasnt said a word about all of this. the nerve in my tooth is dead and has been for years. god getting worried now
