Buying a new racing bike

Looking for some advice on buying a new racing bike, I am looking for a lightweight bike for under 800euro. Wont be able to afford all the carbon fibre stuff people have these days but would like to get the lightest bike falling under this price range.

    Any suggestions will be helpful.

Ever so slightly over budget but worth it imo

"Boardsie in Canyon Recommendation Shocker!" :D

The more I read up on these, the more I'm beginning to like em. I've yet to see one on the road though. Has anyone on here actually bought one? I'd quite like to see some real world pics.

Around €800 I don't think weight is a particularly useful criteria.

You might have the choice between a steel frameset with Tiagra or an alu frame/cheap carbon fork with 2300, different wheels on each. Which is better? No idea, but I wouldn't make the decision based on weight.

I should have been clearer, I intend to use this bike for races and i'm finding that my current bike is too heavy to use. I have myself one of those carrera halfords ones.

Ah, right. In that case try and find something with Tiagra. As far as I know, Sora and 2300 shifters can't be operated from the drops.

You might be better off going second hand, as that will get you into 10sp territory.

Second hand all the way - great deals spring up from time to time if you're patient
