Are they booked as one? Or will you have to pick up baggage?

I've done a 50 min stopover through Amsterdam before where I caught the flight no problem, but my luggage didn't!!!

Its done as one and our bags should meet us at the end of the journey.

Experience says you need at least 90 minutes layover if you want to make it through any major European airport with your baggage intact... make that 2 hours if you need to change terminals at Heathrow. I wouldn't book that connection unless its substantially cheaper than something you can do in 2-4 hours

Your connection is guaranteed though if you got the 2 flights on the same ticket... you and/or your bags can always take the next flight.

I remember before travelling on one ticket to Sth Africa via schipol,
We did the first leg with aer lingus and then KLM, we noticed that the times on our ticket didnt acount for the 1 hour ahead time difference!
So in the end our layover was grand
