I have a lunch allowance of €8.50, and if I have to stay away I can claim overnight/meal allowance of € 90
    I'm privately employed

Why put this in the consumer forum? Is it a political thread?

Why political? Just wondering about expenses from all sides, interested to know if there is much difference too

@granturismo - Please use the Report Post functionality to identify mislocated threads to the moderators. There is no need to add noise to the thread questioning the OP.

I am privately employed in professional services (a highly expensed industry) - I can claim meal allowances, though this is unusual and actual receipted meals are preferred. Our client agreement generally dictates the expenses I am allowed claim. If I am staying overnight with friends & family, I can claim an overnight allowance of €30. However, if I stay in a hotel, this has to be receipted. I can also claim mileage, but this is scrutinised closely.

There is a general trend in recent years away from unvouched expenses and towards receipted expenses. I recently spent a year travelling and my expense envelopes were bordering on ridiculous as 99.9% of all expenses were receipted.

I am privately employed (multi-national company) and cannot claim anything without a valid receipt. There used to be a €15 per day un-vouched expense allowed when you were travelling for business, but this was done away with about 10 years ago. It was meant to cover tolls, tips, snacks, water, etc, but now you need a receipt for every little thing.

Anytime that I have been away on business(private company) they would pay for the hotel also meals&drinks would be expensed to the room,I know off companies that pay there employees a set amount of expenses every day without a receipt as these employees work away from there company HQ.

Public sector - no unvouched expenses, receipts for everything. No alcohol reimbursed.

Mileage rates are - first 64 Km round trip at 41cent per kilometre. All additional kilometres at 20cent.

Private sector, and pretty much need a receipt for everything. I travel quite a bit, but don't get any daily allowance. There is a daily limit on hotel and meal costs.

The closest thing to an unvouched expense would be my mileage for occasional travel. This is generally just to and from the airport, as it's still cheaper for them than for me to get a taxi either way.

Fighting Irish - save the rolleyes post for somewhere else please. If you've a problem with a post, then report it. dudara has already pointed this out quite clearly above.

My last company i worked abroad with on client sites and had all expenses paid, hotel, phone, meals, dry cleaning, taxis etc but also got a per day payment tax free which was handy to be honest as some of the places i was in (Kosovo) it was hard to spend money!

I'm doing both Pre-Sales and Professional Services Consultancy at the moment. Everything is expensed and mileage is closely scrutinised (meeting mid-way with colleagues and car-pooling is mandatory whenever it's possible).

Was stunned when at a sales conference in the UK last week I was given £40 to cover the costs of a few drinks for myself and any prospects I might be chatting to at the gala dinner. To be fair, I'm never left out of pocket for work expenses but it was actually so extraordinary to be given cash in such an unvouched fashion, I have a wallet full of bar receipts at the moment!

All receipted and scretunised. Also could be waiting months for the money.

i am privately employed and get zero expenses unvouched or otherwise unless its an extreme circumstance, ie during the snow last year i was unable to get home one night and was sent off to a hotel that they prepaid, but then gave me a food expense once i turned in the receipt
