Think this should go here but not sure. If not, feel free to move or point me in the right direction :)

Got my Seanad voting form today and I notice it says I must vote in the presence of a witness. Question is: Who should this be? Can it be anyone like a family member, or does it have to be a particular person or person from a particular group (eg Gardai)?

    Thanks in advance.

The Postal Vote Gardai think operates for Dáil elections. How is someone in australia going to get to a Garda station. In additiuon it is only to prove you got ythe paper . The Gardaí will allow yo to take the paper away and vote elsewhere once they verify you have it.

So the question is "what is ion the post you got?" I assume it includes a ballot paper ( or several if you are in more than one constituency or are a councillor). It also includes a form which someone else will have to witness which says you got the vote. Someone else can be anyone. If it does not have a form then such a law is kind of silly since who can show there was or was not a witness?
