Natural Slates ??

    Just starting to build atm and try to spec some natural slates. Just looking for any thoughts anyone has on the best value slates out there (24x12). I've seen some spanish ones @ €1.90 each <snip> but ive never heard of them, there well cheaper than the others out there - Maybe there's a good reason
    If anyone knows anything better please let me know

    I got my slates from a fella in Wexford, about 1.60 a slate for spanish, stay away from Brazilian from what I've heard anyway!

    i ve done some slating with some spanish slate recently

    ive never worked with makes of slates you mentioned
    but id have a guess at saying their pure sh*te

    ya spend more time grading them than putting them on
    the sizes are all over the place

    Just because you haven't worked with them doesn't mean they are not any good.

    hold your horses there mate

    ive worked with spanish slate ,and i found them sh*te

    and a slate that costs 1.90 ,tells me that they are of poor quality

    ya get what ya pay for

    i didnt notice any words of wisdom from yourself

    Rule of tumb i was told a good while back is never use a stone/ slate north of its quarry, because its resistance to frost, cold etc. would be reduced
