    Guys,

    Not too tuned up on this, but how long does one need to reside in the uk to avoid the lovely vrt..?

    also, can you say buy a car AFTER you finish a job say and not pay the vrt? I mean after working for a year or more... just go across get a car and bring it back home?

    sorry for the n0bbish questions.!

    think it needs to be registered in your name for 6 months over there to dodge vrt over here

    Yes must be owned for 6 months while you lived in the UK and you need to be able to verify this with utility bills or service records for the car.

    They normally ask for proof of residence - mortgage/rent receipts, utility bills, etc. You will also need proof of having used the car - insurance cert etc.

    If it was as easy as you seem to think, everyone would be doing it.....
