Got one of these. 9' 5# for the Liffy.

I have yet to choose a line for this rod. I dont intend to try and cast far with this rod as the river is not that big.

I was thinking of a Cortland 444 DT5 but have read mixed reviews over line memory.

    any thoughts?

Don't have worries about Cortland 444s. They are excellent lines.
If you are just beginning fly casting you will knock hell out the line in the first season.
Not a reason to get a cheapie, they shoot badly, which would make casting more difficult.
But if money is tight it's a possible reason to look at something a little cheaper than Cortland, maybe from Scientific Anglers. Then get a 444 in a couple of years time.
But if you have the cash to spare, get yourself the Cortland now. They are that good.

im not new new but advancing on to rivers after years on stocked lakes . I was always looking for distance before. WF lines and a heavy line weight.

Now I want a short cast and maybe a different style. I would rather spend a few pound on a good line rather than waste a day out worrying about a cheaper one. 45 pound on ebay gets a lot.

The Greys Platinum line is good. Plus it was designed to work with the Streamflex.
