Just noticed in the Carina thread, the infamous '9 year rule' was overturned?

The lad in the '85 Honda Accord taxi in Dublin will be happy!

That's not if it's already replaced, like most taxis have been.

On a separate note, I have a '98 Volvo S70 2.5 litre 10 valve. Does the rule being overturned mean that I can now sell it on to a taxi driver again?

That 1985 Accord is no longer used as taxi, way it is all cars that are taxi that are over 9 years of age can be used untill the die. But the car that they replace must be under 9 years old and can be used untill it dies.

    20 valve no?

I had that engine in my Safrane.

The Safrane only used one variant of that engine, which was the 2.5 litre 20 valve. The 2.5 litre in S70/V70 of that time was available in either 10 valve (144 bhp) or 20 valve (170bhp).

Cheap ass taxi = PSV licence with all associated course/training course, taxi plate and meter, fitting and calibration. Then NCT and annual PSV insurance. Not much saving if its only the cheaper tax your looking for.

    psv license - check
    plate/meter , few hundred
annual nct - required anyway for my car.
psv insurance wouldnt be much more than what i pay already.

tax savings = 680 per year,

usage of bus lanes during rush hour - priceless !

    for everything else theres mastercard......
