God, I know even admitting to using it is almost like being officially declared Lame by the state (:o) but did any boardsie ever contribute to the 'Viewpoint' section? It was kind of my gateway drug to boards :D It was very tame stuff now, mostly an ongoing battle of goths vs the rest of the world. :P

I use aertel and ceefax everyday still:).

I use to read viewpoint, never contributed to it though. The computer games section, I can't remember it's proper name, was my haunt. I don't see it there now, gaming is under pg318, but it just skips the page.

Channel 4 had a great computer games section. Was it ITV that had the Bamboozeler?

Gamecentral is what you speak of. It's online now and still great over on metro.co.uk.

Channel 4 had Bamboozler! My husband loved this, it was easy to work out the answer depending what kind of a remote control you had. You pressed all the colours and you'd get numbers and letters like 12G 12F 12E 13F - it was always the one with the different number that was the correct answer! If you got the wrong answer it went back to the first question and you had to start all over again!

Anyway, I loved Ceefax, Aertel and Oracle - I like the viewpoint pages and contributed many letters myself!

My mother thinks Aertel IS the internet. It's still good to get the football scores if can't get to Sky Sports or a computer...

They even have an iPhone app now, it's on the app store.

I used to read some money saving thing on either ceefax or channel 4 text, it had some name like McScrooge or pennypincher something and had all these money saving tips, some were ridiculous, and some purposely stupid. Can anybody remember the name of it?

Well I still use Aertel on my mobile phone. What I like most about it is it takes so little time for the pages to download. And I've bookmarked page 184 for Radio 1.

Ah nostalgia buzz! I wrote to Viewpoint a few times. It used be good but it gradually turned to shít.

It was Aertels version of the Backchat page on Ceefax P506 except it was updated once a week and with far longer letters. They both had the same Rock vs Pop arguments and I remember they both had a poster called Karma Policewoman. The Aertel pages were fairly normal but Ceefax's Backchat and the Vibe had the most amazingly stupid stuff on it. The news letters page on Teletext was the best for paranoid craziness.

    Aertel isn't retro :p
    Mods, delete this thread

    I still use it,
150 for the lotto numbers,180 for what's on now, 183 for the film previews and 221 and 241 for the soccer and GAA results

I do remember there was a jokes page and you pressed another button to reveal the punchline.
Well over a decade since I last did that, not sure if Aertel still has it

havn't used it in years but only because we don't have RTE here now.

Aertel is probably the best part of any of the Irish channels because their programming is so bad
