so my laptop seemed to have a loose connection for a while and finally gave up on me.

so i replace the dc jack and there is still no power?
the battery is worn out to and only holds a charge for 10mins or so but it's enough for me to see that the laptop will power on and boot windows.

could there be anything else wrong? or would the battery need to be replace even if i just wanted to use the laptop when plugged in?

Take the battery out, hold down the power button for 60 seconds, and see does it work, from the mains ,power unit, with no battery installed, wait 4 sixty seconds before you plug in the charger.theres no point holding down the button with the charger plugged in.

    thanks for the reply

i did that with no luck, but the light at the side next to the jack came on for a second which did not happen b4 so now i'm thinking it maybe the power lead!? it is a cheap ebay replacement so it could be the problem. i'm going to test it out on a friends laptop
