    Hi all.

Im just looking for some info on a matter. Hope this is ok to ask, im sure it is.
If I was to buy a pedigree dog from a breeder, with full papers and everything you would expect when buying a new dog. If the pup turns out to have a serious disease like hip dysplasia, what i would like to know if the pup was born with this can the original breeder be held liable for fees it may cost to cover the likes of vet fees and so on. I know in th U.S the breeder can be held liable im just not sure about the law here.

Does anyone know anything about the law here?

    Any help would be great
    Thanks.

In this hypotetical case would the breeder have known about the disease when selling the pup? Does hip dysplasia not develop after a few years? It can be indicative of bad breeding practices in some cases but there are also some breeds that are just prone to it, especially pedigrees. Red setters are one such breed.
