    hi everyone

I've a few friends who are into Airsoft, and I've wanted to get myself a gun for a long time now, and I've always had my eye on a P90.

what's a good make? and where's best to buy one?

what should I know before buying one?

    thanks! ;)

Get a TM if you can, and also get the M4 conversion kit. I do know from a friend that has one that the P90 mags can be very troublesome. With the M4 conversion you'll have a super piece. Not suitable if you're left handed though.:)

A good choice. P90s are shít cool. I was looking at p90s myself (no intention in buying just out of interest) and I've had to stop myself clicking the buy button when I seen the TM P90TR. It's a picture of beauty.

In all my life I have never heard of any P90, TM or otherwise, with a feeding issue. In fact, the TM mags are regarded as the most reliable of the lot.
The STANAG conversion kit is an abomination, but each to their own I suppose. I'd urge otherwise though. I've heard mixed results at best with them, and they offer little advantage now that P90 MOLLE pouches are readily available.

The TM is good, but it's a bit pricey. Good range and reasonable rate of fire, but full plastic body and those rather curious oval bearings let it down compared to the Echo1/Kart model, which is cheaper and sturdier. A couple of upgrades in mine has turned it into a whole new animal. G&G have one on the way I believe, which should be interesting given their recent F2000 success, and CA have one which I've heard mixed reports about. Some say fine, others say terrible (but if you're looking at CA, steer clear of Sportsline models).

that's pretty cool. are the main differences between that one and this one just the treading for the silencer and the scope?

Looks like it. Not a fan of the scope on the one you linked to but the silencer is bad ass.

TR, in the designation, refers to it having a Top Rail which replaced the scope in the standard model (the one in that last link).
The threading for the suppressor is on both models. Simply screw off the flash hider to install a suppressor.

Didn't know that. I don't think the other one has the suppressor though.

The other version doesn't include the suppressor, but both can take any aftermarket suppressor with a standard 14mm CCW thread.
Essentially, the sole difference between then is that one comes with a built in dot-sight, and the other comes with a suppressor instead. Beyond that, they're identical.

nakeddex that u were mentioning the sturyness and value for money of the echo1 p90 do you know any where off hand in ireland that stocks it instead of the classic army?

Not any more, no. It being a clone, it became rare for a while to see them anywhere. I'm sure any Irish retailer could get one for you.
Echo1 being a US rebrand company, there was debate over who actually made them. JG was the company most credited with them at the time of release (possibly due to the good quality) but a mysterious ACM version cropped up soon after release which was packaged the same way and retailed for the same price. The ACM branded one still crops up on sites like Gunner, Airsoft Panda and even eHobby, so having an Irish retailer source it shouldn't be hard.

I loved mine, but she's been out of commission for a while now due to needing a new magazine catch (my own fault, I managed to drop a rather hefty soldering iron on it while I had the gun apart for an upgrade). P90 mag catches aren't exactly commonly stocked items.
The big advantage of their design is that their bullpup configuration and magazine position allows for a barrel length equivalent to that of an M4 or G36, despite being only about the length of your forearm. Throw a good tightbore and hop rubber combination into it and you've got something that will accurately out-shoot AEG's far outside it's size class.
This holds true for all P90's, across all brands. At the moment, I'd rate the Echo1/ACM one the highest (unless the quality of them has degrade since I got one), with the TM being a close second due solely to the TM being plastic (as all TM and Japanese guns are) and being worthy of a spring change from stock (usually shoot about 270-280fps out of the box, but the excellent hop means it's still on a par with rifles firing far higher).

    Ah ok, thank you :D

I actually prefer the look of the scope on the standard model, so I'd rather go for that one. Seems they're both out of stock though.

wanting a P90 was probably inspired in no small part by Stargate SG-1 :p
