Doctor Who Exhibition [Olympia, London]

I was in London the past weekend and took the opportunity to visit the Doctor Who exhibition in the Olympia.
Firstly, it was great to see the age range there. They went from those who I overheard talking about the first episode airing to a young girl who ran up to the Matt Smith poster squealing "I love you!" before kissing it. An even younger fan was dressed up in a Matt Smith outfit and practically hyper with excitement - the future of the show seems good with fans like these.

As to the exhibition itself - it's in two parts. The first part is an interactive adventure where you, and those with you, are brought through a number of different rooms. A story, narrated by Matt Smith on screen, connects all of this. The sets are done very well - an excellent re-creation of the TARDIS console room, perfect Dalek models, etc. There's lighting effects, smoke effects, and other elements that are very well incorporated. Sure the script is flimsy but it's all done with good cheer and Matt Smith's Doctor adds his usual charm to the proceedings.

Once this experience is finished (it lasts about 15 minutes) you're brought out to the props area, featuring various costumes and models from the show. Obviously this is slanted heavily towards Seasons 27-31 and you'll see the Face of Boh, Daleks, Cybermen, Ood (many of them used on the show). There's also items from earlier seasons such as original TARDIS keys and sonic screw-drivers from the Pertwee era or a Gallifreyan costume (again very few are replicas, most original).
Top of all the props (for me) are the TARDIS exterior used in filming as well as the real consoles used for the Eccleston and Tennant eras and the older console used from "The Five Doctors" right up to "Survival". That is all sorts of cool for any fan of the show.

After all the props, there is a show selling a good range of Doctor Who memorabilia. I got myself a few items here too.

If you're in London then I definitely recommend this (as clearly you're a Who fan if you're reading this forum!). Great for fans of all the eras of the show regardless of their age.

Really want to go and check this out.

My daughter (just 4 years old), loves Dr Who, especially David Tennant's character, so hopefully I'll get to take her along.

How much was it to get into?

£17.50 when booking online (£20 at the door). Due to the fact that there's an interactive piece, the tickets have timed entries so it's best to buy in advance.

It'd definitely suit children as well (there's pieces geared towards them). The main focus is on Matt Smith's Doctor but DT gets a look in as well.
