Smaller but powerful?

Are there any high-end Android phones in smaller form factor, such as 3-3.2 inch screen? Everything seems to be large slabs these days, or otherwise teen crappola. I would have loved an HTC Legend 2, just with better specs and battery. Any other options out there, or announced? 3.7 or 4 don't work for my small hands and I am desperate enough to think about Blackberries :(

Smaller screen means much reduced screen resolution.
If you want a hi-resolution screen you are looking at 3.7" and above.

At 3.2", you are looking at the Samsung Apollo or maybe the (soon to be released) HTC Wildfire S.

Excellent hardware, crap OS. Given a choice I would go for the lower speced Orange San Francisco over the Samsung wave

Yes the ability to put a stock Android on needs to be there... As long as it's snappy with good battery life, more than a customary day, I wouldn't mind a lo-res screen (wasn't the Legend 320x480 and it looked fine to me?) but the X10 does seem to be on a tiny side :)
I am actually looking at the O SF. Very reasonably priced if a tad large but is the battery life decent? Wonder which network would give me a good data plan (50min calls, 100 texts, under 300gb data) to go along with it.
Small sturdy simple snappy stock with good stamina is what I need :D

Wildfire S should be out soon enough, might be worth waiting for.

Motorola Defy. 3.7 inch screen but feels smaller. Very small bezel around the screen. Great battery. Root it, put 2.2 on it and you're laughing.

Galaxy Ace. 800mHz processor and a 3.5" HVGA screen for €279. Comes with 2.2.1 as standard.
