Apple Support re Home Button

K so. My home button is being a bit of a b****. I have to press the dang thing several times for it to recognise and do what I want. If I am trying to get it to open up multitasking it won't, it goes back out to the front page, but if I wan't it to go to the front page it opens multitasking. That is WHEN it works.

Now I want to email somebody at Apple and find out what they suggest I do about this problem, but for the life of me I cannot find an email. The options I can find are to ring technical support - why I would do this I don't know. I hardly think it is something they could help me fix over the phone, and as I am past my 90 day ownership I am sure they would charge me for the pleasure of ringing to find they couldn't help me.

The other option I can find online is to straight arrange to have it sent to them for repair. Now I would rather avoid this if possbile, as having to remove everything off my iphone prior to sending is quite tedious.

Anyone know where I can get an email for them?

I'm not sure, but they won't help you by email, either, if it's a hardware fault. The most you can do is reinstall the OS on it, they'll never advise you on fixing it yourself, they will want it returned.

I am getting replacement because of same thing, look here http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056214922

It is simple enough process, in 5 mins lady approved mine replacement yesterday and i can track it, It's in Dublin now.
Will have everything restored to new phone today and then wipe my phone and send them with the package they send me.
It's simple enough process if you don't want to leave without phone for couple of days, Apple charge €29 for this service.
And believe me i have tried all fixes, Air compressed can, restoring as new phone, Updating etc and nothing worked, The sooner you get replacement better.

classic. this WAS a replacement. when i got my phone in july a week later it turned itself and wouldn't come back on. told me to sync, tried that it wouldn't sync. rang apple and they had me send it back. they had me send mine first then they sent the replacement! yours is different obv. is it just 29e to keep your phone till they send you the new one? do i have to ring the tech support first to get it confirmed that i am entitled to a replacement?

    sorry for all the questions!

Ring 1850946191, Have your serial number and credit card handy.
Tell them you have problem with home button, You have tried restoring as new phone and Updating software etc and problem is still there, they will give you 2 options.
1: They send you return envelope and you send them faulty phone, They fix it and send you back, it is free and takes about 2 weeks.
2: They send you replacement phone first and return envelope, You send them faulty phone within 10 days, charge is 29 Euro.

They put the hold on my credit card of 670 euro which is on hold until they receive phone back, Charge is only €29.

I have the same problem with my iPhone and it's only 4 weeks old. I got on to Apple and they sent me out a box to return it which I got today.

I tried everything like resetting the phone etc...but it's definitely a hardware issue.

I cannot believe this!!! I fixed it!!!

I was putting some air into the tyres of my car this morning and I decided to give my iPhone a quick blast of air into to the bottom of the phone where the charger goes. It was just two quick blasts of air and it fixed this problem! I've had this problem for the past month and I've being testing it over the past hour and it's fixed 100%

    Unbelievable! I'm so happy!

Thanks! My iPod Touch (3 gen) has had a touchy home button for some time now, and when I saw your post I thought it was worth a shot. It worked a treat!!

Unfortunately mine only lasted a day and it started playing up on me again.

I bought a iPhone repair kit and home button on eBay so I'm going to have to replace it myself over the next few weeks. I found a very good step-by-step guide on it here

I'm just after spending the last 2 hours replacing the home button on my iPhone 4 using the link above. Job complete and working as good as new :D

This is gonna sound crazy but i was having trouble with the home button on my Iphone 4 too, it would just work intermittently or not at all. I was on google for ages but came up with nothing but that air trick. Until, for some reason i decided to delete the last app i downloaded which was Twitter and low and behold it worked again!

Don't ask me, maybe it was just coincident but there you go!

Apple wouldn't even fix my 5 week old iPhone 4 with this issue, hence the reason for the DIY job I done. I don't think they'll repair yours either since it's older than mine plus it was dropped too. Mine was mint condition at the time.

i'm gonna ring apple tonite about mine. it is getting beyond a joke. and what bothers me is this is my second iphone4. i had to send my original back less than a month after getting it as it turned itself off and wouldn't come back on properly and they sent me this one instead. so this is the second one with a fault.

part of me really doesn't want an iphone anymore, but i don't want to be out of pocket on it either. if i was to consider selling it i couldn't sell it like this, you would get nothing for it. so it would need to be fixed before i could sell it on and buy something different like blackberry.

as a friend of mine said, apple are at this point so busy churing out the NEXT of everything, next mac, next ipad, and next iphone this year, that they don't have time to make sure everything is proper on the ones they have already made. they expect that we will be upgrading in a year anyway so we can live with problems for that long.

How much would you be willing to sell it for as it is? I'd buy it off you.
