Activating Microsim.

I'm hoping to purchase a second-hand iPhone4 and intend to exchange an existing 3 SIM for a microsim.

Does this new microsim need to be activated using iTunes or will it pick up the network as soon as it's inserted into the iPhone ?

Reason I'm asking is that it would be necessary to verify that the device works before handing over cash...

U can cut your old sim to microsim at home, try youtube there are plenty of tutorials:]
About the activation if iphone is locked to three, and previous owner activated it, it should work with any three sim card. Just try to insert your sim before buying.

Activation through iTunes is only for the phone itself.

The micro sim works the same way as transferring your number to any other sim through the network, I did this a few months ago with Meteor.

You get a blank micro sim from three, put it in the phone, contact three and ask them to transfer your number over. When your old phone/sim goes dead the new one is good to go. They'll ask you for the serial number on the sim to do the transfer.

Go into a Three store, say you lost your sim and ask for a MicroSim replacement. They should give you one and it should work out of the pack.

friend of mine did the exact same thing. Went in, said he got an unlocked 2nd hand iphone 4 and wanted a sim replacement. 5 min later he's done and dusted not a cent spent
