So its Sunday afternoon and im walking near the Trinity end of Dublins Grafton St when two young lads came running out of a newsagent laughing and shouting. A few seconds later a third runs out. All are about 12 id say and have hands full of what looks like crisps or sweets. A fella from the shop comes running after them and they turn on to Suffolk st which is crowded with tourists and people waiting for buses. The third of the young lads tries to lose the shop worker in the crowd and turns back towards Grafton St but is stopped in his tracks by a man, who looks about 70, who sticks out his leg and trips him up. He then holds him down on the pavement until the shop worker arrives and grabs the shoplifter. One of the other lads throws a drink at the old man that pours over his suit but he holds on. The crowd of onlookers on the street corner appreciate his efforts and start applauding!

Fair play to the elderly gent for his quick reaction and standing up for what is right. Many people could see what was going on but didnt want to get involved.

Fair play to the old man but could he not be done for assault on a minor?

Little **** deserved all he got but more often than not our laws serve to protect the people who actually break it.

Fair play to him but everybody watching was just thinking I'm fucked if I'm getting stabbed to save somebody the price of a can of coke or bar of chocolate.

Fair play to the old fella! We need many more like him and less of the "omg someone (else) should do something" onlooker types.

It's a shame that in these days you can get done for a good deed. Some Judges are completely out of touch with society and the scumbags thrive on it.

Fair play to the ould fella' I'd have done the same thing. Sick of shit heads thinking they're untouchable, especially because they're kids.

    Hmmmm

it sounds like this guy is more like Lincoln than Michael Schofield. But that's ok, I applaud him anyway. even though I would have preferred if he made a plan or something.
