Im assuming your talking about the good course.
If so its pretty much in top notch condition all year round, played there around this time
last year and it was in great shape. As long as they aint doing any maintanence work
around the course you should be fine. You should give them a call to find out.
Weather has been pretty good aswell over the last few days so if it keeps up you will be laughing.

its a class course . i would rate it the top parkland course in the country and i have played the k club, druids glen , Mount Juliet ,

i play there 2 or 3 times a year. there are some great holes there . the castle makes it . playing into the green on 9 with the castle in the background or 15 playing alongside the castle . 16 is a cracking par 3 and then of course there is 18

just enjoy it . get yourself a yardage book beforehand

the weather is going to be good

Thanks for the replies guys. Looking for to it and the weather being good is one big bonus. Hoping that they havent been aerateing any greens yet!!!!!

Played there twice in the last 2 weeks and it was in great nick. Greens were in unbelievable condition and the fairways were really nice. There was little or no rough due to the lack of growth but it is still a savage test.
The 17th hole index 18 must be the hardest index 18 i've ever played.

A great track. I agree it's better than K Club, Druids Glen or Mount Juliet.

It's a brilliant brilliant course. You'll want to play it again and again and again.
I'd love to be going down there tomorrow aswell

Totally agree with all the post's above it's the best parkland course in the country and I've played the big three, Mount Juliet, K Club and Druids.
My favourite hole is the second real challening drive and a second shot slightly downhill with big trees all around it. Third and fouth set in amongst the trees are good holes
The final four holes are the pick for me as the strongest finish in the country, 15th shortish par 4 with the river all up the right side, 16th par 3 over the lake all carry to the green (I birdied it:)),17th as stated must be the hardest index 18 in the country and the final hole the par 5 with the house as the back drop for the third shot.

Absolutely the best parkland in the country - the only holes I would class as weak are 5, 6, 8 and 10, and thats only because they suffer in comparison to the others which wind in and out of trees or have water in play. Must head back for a game soon.

Oh....and don't bother with the back tees unless you're a solid low handicapper! Its hard enough off the whites!!

How do you mean weak?? They are all tough holes.

The Hole before it is nearly easier :p

Played there about 3 weeks ago in the pissing rain, and no ammount of superlatives could do it justice. Even though the course was borderline Waterlogged, It was still magnificent. Id imagine its very tough if the wind blows though.

I meant in terms of appearance, although 8 is still only a solid drive and a 9, with loads of of room to bail out off the tee. But I'm nitpicking - you bring in a score around your handicap in adare & you've played very well. Enjoy OP!

Without a doubt the best parkland course in Ireland. The first is a very difficult long first hole. Fifth hole is a cracker too before the first par 5, 7th hole. Great hole all along the lake. As stated 9th is a great hole to walk down with the castle in the background.

For me the best stretch of the course starts at 12th. An absolutely fantastic par 5 like smthg out of Augusta National. The Par 5 bends round to the left. Drive to the top of the hill and see the majestic view of the green. Too long to reach in two but a good birdie opportunity. 13th is my favourite hole on the course. Trees all the way up both sides of the fairway. And a downhill 2nd shot to a well protected green. 14th with the approach shot to the lake. 15th running up beside the river Maigue with the Manor on the right hand side. Its incredible. 16th, is a stunning par 3 across the lake. Actually an easier shot than it looks.

17th is the most boring hole on the course by a mile. But I think thats the rest are so good! 18th hole. I dunno what to say. Spend a minute on the tee and just marvel at it. Its certainly up there with the best 18th hole I've ever played. I just love the course. And the staff are very good in adare as well in the proshop. Very friendly and accomodating.

Enjoy the day and you'll love the place as much as me!

Yeah love Adare. Love the way the course changes as you head into the woods and out again towards the castle. Nice par threes. Lot of tough holes. Greens are delicious usually.

Love it, love it, love it!!

I've only played it once, last October, but we had fantastic weather and the backdrop was seriously impressive. There are absolutely no easy holes on it (possibly the first par-3 perhaps) but that's exactly what you want. I've played the K-Club and the Monty and enjoyed all three but there's something special about Adare...

Enjoy it. Take your time and just enjoy the spectacle.

playin it in May with society at work. Cant wait.:D

played it about 2 years ago, while the layout is really good, the condition of the course and especially the greens at the time were really poor and it was about May that I played, I dont know if it was cut backs or whatever, but that was my experience of the course.

I do remember the practice facilities were excellent though!!

Thats unfortunate. I've played it 3 times now. August, October and November (different years). Each time it's been in magnificent shape.

It's in great condition, you will love it! some fertiliser was put on fairways recently and it should be getting lusher by now. As for tips; on the first hole don't go for the green in 2 unless you drive it 230 plus (from the white markers). Take a 3metal or a long iron from the tee on the 3rd hole, aim plenty to the left on the drive at number 7 (1st par 5) in other words; don't get greedy!, as far as the 18th is concerned this is one of the greatest finishing holes in the world and just aim left of the big tree and pike it down for another 150yds and flip a nice wedge and you'll be putting for a canary! enjoy it, hope you have a great day! lucky bugger!!

Played it on the 29th December just gone and it was the best course in the best condition I've ever played on. Shot 38 points with two scratches off 17 and I was absolutely delighted. Drove the ball out of bounds on the first tee with 15-20 of my workmates watching me.

Thinking of shutting this thread down cause Friday seems an awful long time away. These reviews are making me shiver!!!!!!!

A group of us play Adare Manor once every year & it is simply the beat parkland course in the land. Every hole provides a test. Always found it in excellent condition.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,191 ✭✭✭Dr_Colossus

Haven't played it yet but all these claims as the best parkland in Ireland seem to contrast with other views putting Conra Wood in Monaghan as the best parkland in Ireland. Haven't played that yet either but has anyone played both and how would you compare them with each other?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 402 ✭✭The_Architect

Adare is a better course than Concra Wood.
I’m happy to go along with the idea of it being the best modern parkland in Ireland. For day in, day our fun, I’d prefer some of the older parkland courses but I like Adare a lot and it feels like more of a real golf experience and less of a slog (better routing) than many of its contemporaries.

Excellent course, but I'm biased as I live only a few miles away. Used to caddy there when I was younger so got to know it pretty well, only actually played it 3 times though and that 18th hole made a monkey outta me each and every time :o

Favourite hole has to be the 15th with the River Maigue running along the right hand side, not a hole for the slicers out there like me :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,431 ✭✭✭dvemail

Best hole on the course for me is the 13th hole, the hole is completely surrounded by trees
and its as if you are the only person out on the course.
The 16th aswell over the water aint the kind of shot you want to be playing either when
your already low on confidence after the first 15 holes have already battered you half to death. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,197 ✭✭✭bailey99

No better hole than the 13th alright. I absolutely love that hole. U cant see the manor which some people like, but as you say, u see no other part of the course, its like your all alone.

No better feeling that driving to the top of the hill and standing there with an iron to punch down to the well protected green. Outstanding golf hole!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 175 ✭✭rjp123

title of the post says adare manor, which is actually the smaller parkland course. The course all the other posts refer to is 'adare golf club', which is the golf club on the gorunds of the manor. confusing!
anyway adare golf course is literally world class. it is very challenging and i see that the op is playing it today. awesome weather!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 300 ✭✭jod1983

Ok so, its been done and all ican say is 'wow'. From the moment we walked into the club house this morning, to the minute we sat back into the car this evening everything was perfect.
The clubpro was the first we met and the welcome we recieved was second to none. From there we went for breakfast and again were not disappointed.
On to the course, and none of your reviews were false. It is and will be the best course i have ever played. Tee boxs were aerated (to be expected at this time of year), fairways were like an expensive carpet and the greens for this time of year were out of this world.
Of the whole course the 13th and 16th were my favourite (not saying that there was anything wrong with the others). Luckily i pared both. By the way i managed to birdie the 5th index 1,which also added to my joy of the day.
So to finish 'my review' the only fault i could find was that it took me so long to play it.

    Guys

Anyone played Adare recently? Wondering what condition it's in and are their any playing restrictions ie mats, temp, greens/tee box.
Open singles from the 26th to the 30th might be worth a go if its in good nick.
    Thanks

I don't know I just saw it online now no prices. I'd guess about €50

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 468 ✭✭dines08

Work society are out there Thursday. Can't imagine there being any more tee times, we have 64 playing. €55 with a dinner included but I imagine the price is so good because of the numbers
