Zanussi washing machine stops working

I have a zanussi electrolux zwf 1012w which stops working after about 1 minute. The power comes on and the cycle seems to begin but it suddenly stops. Previously the extension cable that it was plug into burnt itself out and was tripping the fuseboard. Since changing the extension cable the fuseboard is fine but the machine doesn't work properly anymore.

I've noticed a burning plastic smell coming from the machine and so took off the top. The electrical wires that go into the part at the back of the control buttons have soot on them and i am wondering if those electronics are burnt out somehow.

Any guidance would be great. Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me.

The machine starts its wash. It starts filling up with water and begins its cycle but then just stalls. It doesn't complete it. The lights stay lit but that is all.

The filter etc has been checked and that is fine.

It did the first couple of times but not anymore. It stops all the time now on all cycles.
