Sure the teams need competitive games and a league, but for supporters I mean personally I just could never get into it.

Half the counties dont take it seriously, neither do players or county boards.
Most of the games outside division 1 are piss poor. Maybe if my county was successful it might but still it will never get near championship.

    In a word - No.
Do you honestly think it deserves a thread? Get rid of the lge and have one or two games in the championship per year - I don't think so.

Teams really should take it more seriously, for the vast majority of counties it makes up 75% or more of the senior games they'll get to play in a year. Definitely those below the upper echeoln of teams should really be giving it everything.

A good season in Division 3 and managing to stay in the division is far more important to my own county's footballers in Waterford than any ceridtable showing they might make in Munster against Cork or Kerry.

I'm not suggesting getting rid of it, I know it is needed for teams and preparation.

Just it's not a spectacle anymore, and outside Division one the standard is poor.

Alot of players aren't interested, and most teams treat it like pre season for the championship.

I completely disagree and find your views very ignorant and totally uneducated!

For example if you look at Div 3, it is extremely competitive with 4 team's battling for relegation and 4 battling for promotion.

The league is a vital building block for most teams in the country. Young players are getting their first chance and fringe players are fighting to get into the starting 15.

I think it's you with uneducated views Hyypia, not me. You're confusing competitive football and football of a high standard.
My local junior C league is competitive, mot much of a standard though.

I've watched Div 3 games in question and although they are tight the standard is poor, and most of the teams are fielding reserve sides.

Half the players wont be involved come Championship time, as I sad it's pre season for June.

There is more glory and quality in one big championship game than the entire league campaign.

So you are not suggesting getting rid of the league..so can I ask what you are proposing, other than slating the standards of our National Leagues ?

The GAA is full of clowns like you who are very quick to criticise our games while in the mean time propose absolutely no solution.

isn't that the same in any sport, the lower the level the poorer the standard??
Strange point and silly thread

That said anyone watching Michael Murphy on Saturday night might argue that the standard in div 2 was pretty damn good !
