apparently anthony stokes is furious he was left out of the first team against rangers in the final,i do apologise that ive no direct link as im reading this on sky text to quote his father/agent "it is crazy that anthony didnt play when he is celtics top scorer, neil lennon has to understand that.He isnt going to be at celtic if he doesnt play against rangers or in the big games. My advice to him is to move from celtic and put in a transfer request immediately.I think he will because he has told me he wants out. What is the point of being a celtic player if you dont play in games like that? For whatever reason lennon just doesnt fancy him. They obviously dont trust him to play against rangers. He was absolutely furious on the bench.I know that he is furious that lennon doesnt have the confidence in him"

Why are they coming out with this a day after losing a cup final to rangers, stokes problem with arsenal and sunderland was his bad attitude and i firmly believed that his move to celtic would help his career and maybe gain a bigger move after 2 or 3 years.I highly doubt any good club would take him now after this he would probably end up at the likes of stoke or wolves (no offence to any supporters).Does anyone else think that he may have fooked his career up with this(early days i know:P).

If he cant get his game at Celtic he hasnt a hope of getting his game at Stoke or Wolves. He has never looked comfortable in England only in Scotland. If he got his attitude right he might become a good championship player.

17 goals this season proves he does get his game. For some reason he was left out of the final.

Maybe because the manager doesnt believe he can score against better opposition. I have not being following the SPL closely but it is a poor standard these days. Take out Celtic and Rangers and the rest would struggle in the Championship.

He hasnt played much against rangers (in their meetings so far) this season as far as I can recall.

2 minutes into the 1st old firm of the season he made a horrendus tackle, should have been off then and there,I could be mistaken it might be the second old firm. Was a terrible challenge.

It was the first one of the season.

I'd personally like to see what Stokes himself is saying tbh - it seems to me that he would be doing well to get himself as proper agent, as his da' strikes me as a bit of an attention seeking loudmouth.

could have something to do with his da barring the ol queen, maybe lennon didnt want stokes targeted.

How exactly is a father of a player getting a microphone stuck in his mouth at the final whistle of a cup final loss a nail in a players coffin?

He has apologised for his remarks to Lenny and claims some of what was attributed to him was not said.

It was a rant, possibly with beer on board, that a rag like the Record would run with. So what?

Where did the story his old man is his agent originate?

Shocking quotes from his dad/agent about slapping in a transfer request just because he was dropped for a game(albeit a final). I get the feeling that Stokes and his dad think he is a lot better than he actually is. He wont go very far with a bad attitude like this.

Can we clarify that John Stokes IS NOT his sons agent.

Yeah i seen that story, the idea of "barring the queen" doesnt particularly bother me - however it didnt half stink of being a publicity stunt.
This seems to be more of the same.

Yeah, he was on Newstalk last week going through the logic of the signage outside the pub - was ordered to take down one of the signs.

News is changing by the Hour.....
Anthony Stokes’ father says he didn’t advise the Celtic player to seek a transfer request. The Ireland forward was an unused sub during the Scottish League Cup final loss to Rangers at Hampden Park yesterday. John Stokes was quoted this morning saying he wanted his son to leave Parkhead – speaking to 98FM Sport in the last hour – Stokes senior says his son still has a big future at Celtic:

He doesn't get his game against Rangers though does he? Either way, by all accounts it seems he had a very poor attitude.

as i said at the end its early days and could be just ****e talk, but what if it really is how stokes feels now?his bad attitude in the past has cost him big.

But there is nothing to say it is. Even if JS said what was quoted in the Daily Record, he hand't spoken to AS at the time and coulnd't have known what he felt. How does a rant, alledged to have been misquoted, from a players father, in any way reflect on a players attitude?

Astonished football fans still believe a word the red tops say

in fairness i read it on sky and said it was still early on and i was more or less looking for an opinion on a player i rate highly but whos attitude can stink

Wow, there's an Irish player doing pretty well for himself - I can't believe I haven't taken the opportunity to stick the knife into him sooner.

I'll never forget the day Stokes' dad registered on the Sunderland forum to defend his son, and the subsequent entertainment that followed.
