This could be interesting! It's great to see cars like this being recreated and adapted to meet modern requirements.

All we need now is for Peugeot to make a modern day version of the 205 1.9 GTi.

New model to feature handling and brakes as standard? or optional extras ;)

Edit, I've no audio here - don't blame me if there's stupid music on this vid, thats the dangers of youtube..

    Predictions:

It will be too heavy, too expensive, and too late.

Just like every other "retro" car.

In that photo it looks like a DS3/Kia Sportage/BMW Mini more than it looks anything like a Renault 5!

Of course it will be more expensive and heavier than the original. There's a lot more to cars now than there was a few decades ago. I wouldn't dismiss it up front though, the 500 and the Mini are extremely successful retro cars that look good, drive great and make a lot of money for their makers

I had an R5 Turbo back in the day - the maddest, most dangerous, grin inducing yoke I ever had. As an OP has pointed out, handling and brakes were optional extras that most didnt bother with. Id absolutely love another one!:D

They might or might not make the 5, it's more likely that they'll adapt the Zoe to be another car, or put a fossil fuel engine in it and call it the Renault 5

    Here's the Zoe

Am I missing something? Sure the 5 turbo had a following, but the boggo car was nothing special, and nowhere near as well rounded as the 205.

nowhere near as well rounded as the 205.

The R5 came out in 1972. The Alpine/Gordini warm version was 1976. The Turbo came out in 82.

All of that was before the 205 was even launched.

I was thinking of the second gen R5 (85-96).

This was the obvious rebirth of the boggo Renault 5

To hell with the FWD Renault 5 Turbo. I want the original R5 Turbo from the early '80's, preferably a Turbo 2........

Do you think that Renault will drop a turbo engine into the boot of the new one?

Class, would love to see one of these. I must be mad, but I do fancy those fiat 500 too...

Love it. Love the 80s GTA as well.

Not many cars move me these days but those Alpines...

If they remake the 5 then i'd say so, they basically did with the Clio v6, albeit a normally aspirated engine in the boot
