iTunes not remembering playback position

    Hi,
This topic seems to be a popular one online, without a proper solution.
I have an iPhone 3gs running ios4.2.1, jailbroken with greenp0ison. I have started having trouble today with my playback of podcasts and audiobooks in that the iTunes app on the phone is not remembering the playback position of the file.
All the boxes are checked on my desktop iTunes before anyone says to do that. It is remembering where I last listened to on desktop iTunes, both on my PC and iPhone. It is also not marking podcasts as played once they have been listened to (the blue, unplayed circle stays).
Hopefully someone here has a resolution to this issue, I dont want to have to update to iOS 4.3 as I have my phone set up now just the way I like it. Also, from reading other threads, it seems that iOS upgrades dont make much difference.

    Thanks,
    AV
