Two Pizza's and with a Choice of Salad, Along with a Bottle of Wine for €14 at Don Mimis (Worth up to €50)
    • Available to eat in or takeaway
    • Authentic Italian eatery with freshly prepared pizzas
    • Choice of 3 salads plus a Bottle of wine
    • Advance booking for a table required - otherwise order for collection as normal.

Like footballs, pizza crusts are generally circular, frequently airborne, and in constant danger of being stolen by one's opponents. Give your taste buds a good kicking with today's City Deal: for €14 diners can tuck into a pizza each, to be accompanied with a choice of salad and bottle of house wine at Dublin pizza place Don Mimis.

With a recent change of hands, Don Mimis is now run by Sicilian chef Antonio Barbera and his North Carolinian wife, Barbera. Regular Mimis diners will testify that the pair have brought a new lease of life to this Monkstown pizzeria with their easy-Italian style attitude, and Antonio has even brought his secret dough making skills and recipes to Irish waters straight from some of the best eateries in Italy's little brother, New York City. Mimis pizza dough is tossed daily and stretched by human hands, not by clumsy catapults and model airplanes flying in opposite directions, so customers can expect only the finest disc shaped enjoyment.

CityDeal holders can peruse over the 13 pizza strong menu, and deliberate over the prowess of the Pompei (mozzarella, ham, sweetcorn, cream - no tomato) or the authenticity of the Romana (tomato, mozzarella, anchovies, black olive, capers, oregano) whilst they choose between the Greek, Caeser or Rocket salad to accompany their chosen Atlantis shaped treat.

For a full look at the pizza menu please look here.

Great deal! Best pizza place around:pac:

Yes best pizza around by a mile in that area.

I think there are only about 6 tables in this restaurant and already 1250 deals bought. If it runs for six months 7 days a week, thats 1092 deals......

I go there quite a bit and their pizza is excellent but if I got this deal, I'd be booking it fairly lively.....

scratch that...I thought it was the one on North Strand. Glad I didnt buy it now!

I know that the original guy from Don Mimi has moved to North strand so maybe this is the restaurant that he left behind?

Over 1300 people have bought this now and if, as stated above, there are only 6 tables at the restaurant then I don't think anyone will ever be able to use the voucher before the 22nd June expiry date!

Eoinite, the restaurant on North strand only has about six tables, not sure about the one in Monkstown.

Oh sorry... I misunderstood what you meant.

Even so... it would be hard to get a table as the expiry date on the voucher is 3 month. Need a longer expiry date on these things

It's valid for takeaway as well though so I'm sure some people will use that option, should free up a few of the 1300 tables!

Would this deal count for take-aways/deliveries?

running it for another day, gonna be nearly 5,000 vouchers sold, could be very hard to get a seat for eating in

HAHA just noticed that now, how unfortunate for her ;)

I'd say given that its pizza most will use this for takeout. Damn good deal though, you wouldn't even get that in the local tesco.

Has anyone been able to get through to them?

The oh wanted to check if there would be a table free for my bday on Saturday night before buying the voucher but couldn't get through to them for two days straight.

Same as that. Disaster. Might just pop into them and get take out with the voucher.

Yeah, it's absolutely disgraceful that they will not answer their phones. Has anyone had trouble with them when going in with the vouchers in person?

Drove out there last Friday after work, tried to ring loads of times but no answer. Imagine my delight when I got there at 6.45pm, paid for parking and then discovered that the place was closed, not a sinner in sight. It looks like they're still in business - but seriously what food outlet is not open by 6pm on a Friday?

Left emptyhanded and had to drive all the way back to west Dublin then. The place is a joke...

I called into the place in person last week and it was closed. There was stock still in the fridge but no sign of anyone. I've tried to call and no answer. Looks like the bit off more than they can chew with the deals.

They have committed themselves to an offer and aren’t honouring it.
    Shame on you Don Mimi!!!!!!!

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

That doesn't look too good. Is the place closed down?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78 ✭✭paper cut

It doesn't look closed down. There is still stock in the fridges but no sign of life. I've sent city deal an email asking them to explain.
Their reviews on menupages seem to set the scene for a deal they should not have got involved in.

I have a similar story to some others posted.

How about we all arrange to meet at the Salthill and Monkstown DART station, with flaming torches at the ready.

    Let's get 'em boardsies!

I availed of this within days of deal going live, and without wishing to rub salt in wounds, pizza was excellent, wine also good. While there I got the impression that there may be a connection with the " purty kitchen" next door ?

There was a thread that I read earlier about citydeal vouchers and "cafe des Irlandais" which appeared on citydeal about 2 months ago.

They have since closed down and citydeal have arranged that any unused vouchers could be redeemed at the Harbourmaster restaurant (IFSC) instead.

These businesses think that they will be able to sustain themselves by offering a deal with citydeal however it only helps them in the short term and thus they close down.

Wouldnt be suprised if Don Mimis has done the same thing.

Just got a refund from citydeal. Mimi has closed apparently.

“Two Pizza's and with a Choice of Salad, Along with a Bottle of Wine for €14 at Don Mimis (Worth up to €50)” – deal cancelled, refund processed.

We have important information for those of you yet to redeem your vouchers at Don Mimis. Unfortunately, this partner has ceased trading and is no longer able to honour vouchers. As a result we have issued you a full refund.

We apologise for any disappointment this may cause. Please allow up to 5 working days for the funds to be transferred back via your original method of payment.

This incident has no bearing whatsoever on other deals offered. We hope to bring you a similar deal in the near future and thank you for your understanding at this time.

We hope this unfortunate incident does not discourage you from opting for other upcoming offers in Dublin at www.citydeal.ie.

I know. I had it planned for tonight aswell. Devastated, at least citydeal seemed to act pretty quickly once they found out there was a problem.
