Hey, im doing a college assignment about how to increase road safety which contains a survey of motorists regarding compensation to speed limit obeying drivers. If you could answer these 5 questions you would be very helpful and I would appreciate it. :)

    1. If a new rewarding scheme for speed limit obeying motorists was introduced. From 1 to 5 how interested would you be in participating? 1 being least interested,5 being most interested.

    2. What are the top 3 rewards that you would like to be rewarded with for safely driving within the limits?

    3. How effective do you think this kind of system (where speed obeying motorists are rewarded and speeding motorists are punished) would be?

    4. How often would you like to be compensated for obeying the speed limit? Monthly, half yearly or yearly?

    5. Do you have any ideas that in your opinion would encourage drivers to drive safely within the limit?

    Thanks! :)

Answering these questions doesn't make sense considering my answer to 1st question.

I think that encouraging drivers to strictly adhere to speed limits wouldn't improve road safety at all.
Speeding is not a big problem in Ireland, and there is million other things that can be done for improving road safety - starting with good driver education, which so far was almost not existent in Ireland.
About speeding only what I would do was increase a motorway speed limit, which would lower the amount of people speeding.

5 if all I had to do to was participate, would not be willing to sign up/pay etc

    2. What are the top 3 rewards that you would like to be rewarded with for safely driving within the limits?
Duty free petrol, cheaper insurance, money.

    3. How effective do you think this kind of system (where speed obeying motorists are rewarded and speeding motorists are punished) would be?
Marginally more effective than the current system.

    4. How often would you like to be compensated for obeying the speed limit? Monthly, half yearly or yearly?
    Depends on the scheme really.

    5. Do you have any ideas that in your opinion would encourage drivers to drive safely within the limit?
More consistency with speed limits making them seem more appropiate, having to resit your driving test every X (10?) years.

So you define driving "safely" as driving within the speed limit?

There are country roads with speed limits of 80 I wouldn't go over 50 on and there are roads with speed limits of 80 which should be at least 100, they're so wide and straight.
Arbitrary speed limits and sticking to them does not necessarily make for safe driving.
You also havent mentioned minimum speed limits. Someone driving absurdly slow in motorways is hazardous enough particularly if they are hogging the OT lane

Never ceases to amaze me the stuff folks get up to in college, OP there already is a scheme, penalty points, fines and court appearances. By not being caught speeding or by not speeding at all you avoid all three.

By the way, what course are you doing at college?

And by not crashing your insurance company "reward" you with a discount on your premium.

Seems like there's plenty of incentivisation of "safe" driving already.
