Thinking of booking one of these hotels for our wedding, would appreciate any feedback on them.
    Thanks :)

If its the Ardlilaun in Galway I would give it a miss, spent a weekend there and found it absolutely awful. Food was below par, staff couldnt give a crap and the hotel itself was like the set from Cocoon.

Never got to the Westwood so cant say

I've been to 2 weddings, and a dinner dance in the ardilaun, and 1 wedding and 2 christmas parties in the Westwood.

Ardilaun did great food the first time, which was a few years back. the second was christmas 2009. some of the dinner was cold, and when we asked for *i think* mint sauce to accompany the lamb, it finally arrived when they were beginning to serve dessert on a nearby table. They also forgot to serve someone on our table one of their courses entirely and only when they were clearing did they realise that he didnt get it. I was at a family table next to the top table) so rushed him a dinner while the rest of us was on dessert. and there was no waiting staff had vanished.

They also have a strange set up where they bring out trestle tables onto the dance floor in front of the stage and set up bain maries there to serve the food from (and it was still cold) the bride had asked if they not do this and they spouted some Health and Safety waffle at her, and insisted it be done that way. It looked like a buffet, and a bit cheap. For the money I know the ardilaun charge, I personally dont think it was worth it.

now, they may have changed their set up since, maybe someone else here has eaten at a wedding there since I did.

The westwood was lovely - the food was lovely, service was grand, and the function room is well decorated. the only thing is that is quite dark as it has no windows, however the lighting was very romantic and flattering! Its not a massive function room though - so if you have a large wedding you might want to see it set for that amount of people. At the christmas party we were like sardines in the same room.

    Hope it helps!

I was at a wedding in the ardilaun last year. Food was ok, nothing amazing.
I found it very old fashioned & it would not be my choice.

I have been to a good few functions also at westwood. Had good & ok food there but I think I would pick the westwood over the ardilaun TBH.
