Hotpoint TDC30 Drier - suspect stat

I've had this condenser for about 8 years now. Great workhorse. But now it cuts out after about 10mins. It heats up fine as usual but just stops after 10. Am I correct in thinking this must be a now defective safety stat ? And if so should I "have a go" or simply call a Hotpoint service rep ?

If your safety stat was defective it probably wouldn't heat at all.

Might be the timer?
