Does anyone know if walkie talkies are safe for children to use with regard to radiation levels? There appears to be little verifiable info online?

As far as I know they operate in the FM frequency and so would be comparable to listening to the radio or a cordless phone

Yes. You'll get more radiation exposure living near a TV transmitter.

These 2-way radios are low power, and operate at quite a long wavelength relative to mobile so there's far less ionisation risk. The technology has been used for sixty years without any known side effects. Also, the antenna is further from the head than in a typical mobile, and the position of use (in front of the mouth, not against the ear) is safer for any radiation exposure that there would be (which is practically none, anyway).

    That enough reasons? ;)
