Help!!

Hey guys looking for a bit of help, everyime I try and open Microsoft Word a screen appears saying "this version of microsoft word is not genuine", whats that all about??

It is saying that it is using a pirated licence key.

It may be an error and gives you instructions on how to check.

Where did you get the licence.

It was already on the laptop when I bought it

But was the laptop new. Did you buy it from a source that you can go back to.

Also, did you follow the instructions from microsoft to check your software again. If you did buy pirated software you may be able to get a reduced priced copy by informing Microsoft where you got it.

Bought it from a guy up the road who sells and repairs laptops, he did say not to tell anyone where i got the microsoft word, excel, access etc, Im certainly not going to report him.

I was just curious to why it was saying it wasnt a genuine copy.

There's your answer then

Microsoft Office uses a system to check that it is valid every so often. IE It checks with Microsoft that the licence is still valid. In many cases the fake copies of office will use a stolen corporate licence. At some point Microsoft will spot that there are 3000 copies of Office on an 100 user licence and will cancel the licence. That is when people like you will find out you have got a fake copy.

But is still ok for me to use?

My information is that it does nothing except annoy you with constant messages but i also remember that there may be a countdown until it stops Office working (Or saving)

Sorry but not sure what the final outcome will be.
