Hey guys, just wondering if anyone could tell me about the pros and cons of deciding to do the LPC instead of the FE-1s and ppcs. Will have a qualifying law degree.

    Thanks!

Hi , I am in a similar situation. Just wondering have you looked into subject requirments i.e. English land law ?

You need English Land Law along with several other core subjects for the English route.

The subjects studied in an Irish law degree will do for the following core subjects:

    Public Law/Constitutional & Administrative Law
    Obligations I/Contract
    Obligations II/ Tort
    Criminal Law
Equity & the Law of Trusts
    Law of the European Union

The final core subject is Law of Property/Land Law which the Solicitors Regulation authority in the UK specify must be "english" Land Law.

If you have a law degree, but you're missing any of these, you have to do the GDL - not the full thing, just whatever you're missing. You have to spend a year doing it even if it's just one subject. (Well, a college might admit you late if it's just one subject - don't rely on this, but theoretically you spend a year doing the subject(s) you're missing).

Some Irish uni's are now teaching English Land Law I believe so that people have qualifying law degrees and can go straight onto the LPC.
