Driving shoes

This is going to sound a bit daft but bear with me.

Does anybody know where in Dublin I can get a decent pair of shoes to drive in, doing up to size 13?

I've been having problems with the shoes catching on bits of trim around the pedals... which went beyond a distracting annoyance when I managed to get both the brake and accelerator at the same time without being able to feel it...

Or am I too much of a pedant for even worrying about this?

What sort of shoes make decent driving shoes anyway?

A cheap pair of thin soled plimsoles from pennys or the likes could do the job ...

If you really wanted proper shoes you could buy a pair of racing boots. Proper feedback from the pedals and they are very comfortable. You could just leave them in the boot or alternatively buy the fashion style racing boots that you can wear out and about.

The problem with that is, they might be a bit expensive, though I'll have a look and see what I can find

I love driving barefoot, roll on the summer.
As someone else mentioned, it may not be the shoes but the pedals that are the problem.

you'l obviously want narrow shoes...i always find puma runners or "trainers" best. especially Puma Speedcats as they're modelled off of racing shoes or even adidas goodyears. adidas-goodyear-womens-trainer-sneakers-4.jpg
puma-speed-cat.jpg or if you want something a bit more "flashy" white%20lacoste%20trainer%201.jpg

those sparcos are sweet....cheaper than any of the above too!!

unfortunately they only seem to do up to a UK 11.... and I've got fecking flippers on me so it's hard to get a narrow shoe that fits.

I swear to God they don't design cars around real-sized people. Even with the steering wheel right up and the seat right back and down it's still hard to fit. And I amn't that fat... just long legged and big feeted.

How the feck does Jeremy Clarkson do it?

I'm not sure if it's really possible to adjust the pedals so they're further apart. I'll look into it. S/b in the manual.

I don't like barefooted at all. Felt weird.

barefoot way safer than flip flops, they get stuck on the pedals and on the mats...

yes but the pedals on the yoke we were driving were about an inch wide so twas like stepping on a thumb tack!! but i would agree flip flops are dangerous but i still think they're could be an insurance thingyjiggybob if you were in an accident and were found to be driving barefoot.anyone know any more on this?
