Maybe because of increased air traffic, you know tourist season is about to start and some planes are taking the ''low road''.

It probably has more to do with this and the wind direction:

    http://www.dublinairport.com/gns/at-the-airport/latest-news/11-02-22/Essential_Maintenance_On_Dublin_Airport_s_Main_Runway.aspx
Essential Maintenance On Dublin Airport's Main Runway February 22 2011

Dublin Airport’s main runway, Runway 10/28 is 21 years old and requires an overlay. This essential maintenance has been taking place at night since November last and was to be completed in early March.
Due to the unprecedented bad weather over the winter months, severe snow and ice in particular, the overlay project has been delayed until the end of April 2011 at the earliest.

In order to carry out this work the main runway is being withdrawn from service Monday – Saturday 21.00 – 05.30 (approx).

In facilitating this essential maintenance work, the crosswind runway, Runway 16/34, will be used during this time. The use of this runway may result in increased aircraft noise levels in the Santry, Beaumont, Artane, Clontarf and surrounding areas and some North County Dublin residential locations.
In certain weather conditions, areas in South County Dublin (Dun Laoghaire, Rathdown and surrounding areas) may also experience some increase in aircraft noise levels while this work is underway.

This essential maintenance work is critical to the ongoing safe operation of the airport and is being carried out in accordance with the international standards in aviation safety.
Dublin Airport regrets any inconvenience caused as a result of this essential work.

Further information may be obtained through our free phone number: 1 800 200 034.

People who live under flightpaths rapidly get used to the noise. Your kids will too if it continues. It won't though, once they finish with the runway maintenance the flight paths will return as they were before.

the last week has seen a decent amount of light aircraft movements from the uk, most likely related to the rugby. the nightly closure of 16/34 has been ongoing for a few months now so it would be surprising if it only started bothering you in bray this week.

Yes but it would also depend on the wind direction which would impact on the flightpaths. Perhaps the wind has been blowing in a different direction until this week?

I live much nearer to Dublin Airport and there has been almost no use of runway 34 at nights in recent weeks. Runway 16 has been used for departures after about 2030 local time but most eastbound traffic turns shortly after takeoff and anything southbound would be pretty high by the Bray area, I would say.

I live right under the flight path for RWY10/28 you just get used to the noise I have no problem sleeping, Then again could you imagine someone like me going mad at the noise of the planes and me having worked in the airport for years and who flies Warriors.:p
