2 aircraft at seemingly high altitude both flying very fast, one about a minute behind the other and heading in an identical heading. Both craft had the same lights flashing and where producing wide vapour trails. They were flying in a north easterly direction. Military?

Ok................so can you porvide the following..

    1. Your position at the sighting.
    2. Time.

Sounds if they were heading NE then possibly the CANFORCE Military that went into Prestwick.

No, saw the same thing myself once. So asked the question on another forum. Quite simply it's two airliners on the same route more or less at the same time. Apparently sometimes you can see quite a gaggle of airliners all heading out into the Atlantic together. It's all about scheduling, everyone wants to arrive in the States at a sensible time.

They are not in formation, just coincident.

You may be able to see which actual aircraft/flights were involved if you use the replay function here - just adjust the slider to the time bracket concerned.

Probably two aircraft on the same route. Viewing aircraft from the ground at high altitude can be very deceptive. Only recently when I started comparing sightings with sites like radar virtuel and Casper, did I realise how deceptive it can be. For example, I live in Dublin 24 and recently saw two jets in the distance that looked very close. One was at 34,000 feet over Carlow and the other at 37,000 over Waterford.

Over Bray and it was about 22:30.

Edit: Actual time was 23:12 :o

What a fantastic site. The two flights were Thompson holidays flights and were B752's which probably were full of holiday makers returning from the Canaries to Newcastle :D both at about 38000ft and 470 knots.

Must say they looked cool in the clear night sky but not really that exciting now that I know it was a load of tanked up orange Gordies :D:D
