Hi, I registered last June 09 as self employed after fininshing work as a PAYE employee, I regiseted by buisness with CRo and registered as self employed with the inland revenue, and registered for VAT. i recieved my first self assessment Form 11 the other day, And it came in my husbands name trading as the name of my buisness?? and the form uses his PPS number. Does anyone know why it would be in his name? I filled in the application form using my name and pps number and what buisness name i was trading under. Is it because we are married and he is PAYE emloyee that the tax form came in his name? The Vat return forms come in my name trading as my buisness name, with my pps number??
To say he wasnt too pleased !!!

Yes, we are jointly assessed as far as I know.

For jointly assessed couples the income tax form will be issued in the name of the assessable spouse.

You can change who the assessable spouse is by notifying Revenue. If you look at the Revenue website and search for "IT2" you will get more information.
