I have Donnie Darko bluray that i bought from hmv online... it won't work on my ps3... it shows the very first screen of the disk for a couple of seconds showing a generic warning that you see at the start of movies but then it suddendly cuts out and on my tv it cuts to the generic blue screen and says on the top right of the screen that there is no signal...the ps3 has to be restarted to work on tv again even though the ps3 is still on it wont show on the tv - says no signal.

it plays other blu-rays fine...any ideas whats going on???

Is your ps3 on the latest firmware? Can you try it on a friends ps3/blu ray player? Otherwise it could be a faulty disc

I had a similar problem with the Predators blu ray. It wouldn't play after the latest firmware update. Go into the blu ray settings and set the network connection from always allow to confirm. Play the disc again and it should ask you to allow it to connect to the net. Select no and it should play away. Worked for me.

Sorry mate, me and the other posters are just throwing out cool quotes from the movie in question.

    Didn't mean to be smart.

Could be disc rot. Some discs or batches of discs get it due to manufacturing defects, impurities etc.

If you can confirm that it's disc rot (by visual inspection, or trying in other players etc) then the movie company might replace it if you contact them.

Don't know if this will help, check out your settings.
Maybe the blueray can only be played in 720 and your out putting at 1080 or vice versa.
Something similar happened to me while paying a game on ps3,was playing fine before an update, after update got nothing but a blank screen once the game started to load.Turn out to be my settings, can't recall if it was 50hz/60hz thing or the 720p/1080p thing.

    Worth a try.

so today I went to my local electrical shop and got to try this disc on a stand-alone blu ray player, and it worked!!!

    I'm stumped?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,923 ✭✭✭kearneybobs

You could try to unplug your ethernet cable from the PS3 and turn off the internet connection for Bluray from 'allow' to 'confirm' too.
Next, go and delete the cache file for the bluray disc from the XMB. Reboot the PS3. It will hopefully work for you.

I was having a problem with inception on BD. It kept on freezing at the same spot. This solved it for me a couple of times but it sometimes was hit or miss. The unplugging of the ethernet cable for me was the thing that did it for me, for some reason unknown to me.

    hi,

thanks, i dont use the cable i have wireless set up. i already have it set to confirm and i always click no on startup.... delete the cache you say? you mean in the BD Data Utility folder at the top??

Cause i looked in there and there was no file for this movie in there....

    any more ideas? thanks
